About this live event
This continuing education event reviews the functional and mental health impacts of divorce and separation on children in different developmental stages. Participants will discuss ethical concerns and issues related to working with families experiencing divorce and separation and review best practices. Specific Play Therapy interventions to support children in homes with divorce or separation. Participants will learn through lecture, video demonstration, interactive practice, case review, and large group discussion. Completion of a Post-test and Evaluation is required for participants to receive CE credit.
Learning Objectives
1. Describe a theoretical understanding of the impact of divorce.
2. Identify ethical issues of working with divorced and separated families in Play Therapy.
3. Practice use of specific Play Therapy skills and interventions to support children in families of divorce.
4. Identify supportive Play Therapy based interventions to promote healthy functioning in the family system.
5. Plan for how to resolve ethical concerns and dilemmas that emerge in Play Therapy practice with families experiencing divorce and separation.
6. Discuss skills and strategies for navigating legal proceedings including responding to subpoenas, testifying, and communicating with legal professionals.
