Why Scholarships Matter…
At A Time for Play, we are committed to making high-quality play therapy training accessible to all clinicians. We proudly offer a range of scholarship and discount opportunities to support diverse pathways into the field:
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Scholarship
Awarded annually to a mental health clinician from a diverse background who is pursuing the Play Therapy credential.
Community Impact Scholarship
Awarded annually to a clinician serving in an underserved or marginalized community setting, supporting those making a meaningful difference where it’s needed most.
Non-Profit Discount
Available to nonprofit organizations that sponsor an employee to attend training events, helping expand access to care within community-based settings.
Student Discount
Offered to master’s-level students in clinical fields who are preparing for careers in direct mental health service.
Through these opportunities, we strive to invest in clinicians who are passionate about serving children and families and expanding access to quality mental health care.
Applying for a Scholarship
At A Time for Play, we are proud to invest in the next generation of play therapists through our annual scholarship program. Scholarship applications open each May, and two scholarships are awarded each year to support clinicians in their journey toward advanced play therapy training.
Applicants will be asked to share information about their professional background, current work, and commitment to serving children and families. Our selection process is designed to identify individuals who demonstrate passion, purpose, and a desire to expand access to meaningful mental health care through play therapy.
We encourage all eligible clinicians to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to grow, learn, and make a lasting impact in their communities.
Support Our Scholarship Fund
At A Time for Play, we believe that access to high-quality play therapy training should not be limited by financial barriers. Through the generosity of our community, we are able to award two scholarships each year and provide discounts throughout the year to clinicians who are passionate about serving children and families.
Donations directly support our scholarship fund, helping expand access to continuing education and increasing the number of trained play therapists in diverse and underserved communities. Every contribution, big or small, plays a meaningful impact in empowering clinicians and expanding the resource of Play Therapy.

Research Grant Application
A Time for Play recognizes the importance of advancing the evidence-base and scholarship of Play Therapy. Our organization developed a Research Grant to fund help fund Play Therapy research projects. Our organization is particularly interested in research that expands access to Play Therapy to historically marginalized populations. Play Therapy researchers may apply for a grant funding.
Maximum Award: $500
Requirements:
- Project be Play Therapy specific
- Project must be IRB approved
- Applicants must complete application
- Must submit CV and letter of recommendation
