6 Play Therapy Special Topics Hours
About this live event
This continuing education event teaches participants the Polyvagal theory of regulation as it applies in the context of Play Therapy. Participants will learn about the neuropsychological processes activated and changed by Play Therapy. Participants will learn skills and interventions for keeping the therapy process within the child's window of tolerance. Participants will learn through lecture, interactive practice, case review, and large group discussion. Completion of a Post-test and Evaluation is required for participants to receive CE credit.
Learning Objectives
1. Recite the core theoretical tenets of Polyvagal Theory.
2. Analyze how to integrate Polyvagal Theory into the Practice of Play Therapy.
3. Discuss the neurobiological impacts of therapy and play therapy within the brain.
4. Assess hyporarousal and hyperarousal symptoms in clients.
5. Practice skills for supporting a child to return to their window of tolerance.
6. Assess when integrating Polyvagal theory is an appropriate strategy for Play Therapy intervention.

10:30 – 12:00 pm – Applications of Polyvagal Theory in the Play Room
12:00 – 1:00 pm – Lunch Break
1:00 – 2:30 pm – Skills and Methods of maintaining regulation
2:30– 4:00 pm – Practice of Play Therapy Interventions utilizing Polyvagal theory
4:00 pm - Wrap-up, Review, Evaluation, & Post-Test
