This continuing education event teaches participants the theory, skills, and methods of Adlerian Play Therapy (AdPT). Participants will learn to conceptualize children from an Adlerian Play Therapy lens using the Crucial C’s, the Goals of Misbehavior, and additional assessment tools. Participants will learn and practice Adlerian specific Play Therapy skills such as metacommunication, therapeutic metaphor, questioning of the child's lifestyle, and the Adlerian Play Therapy approach to limit setting. Participants will learn through lecture, video demonstration, interactive practice, case review, and large group discussion. Completion of a Post-test and Evaluation is required for participants to receive CE credit.
Learning Objectives
1. Identify the four Crucial C's as framework for healthy development in Adlerian Play Therapy.
2. Discuss how Adlerian Play Therapy use the four goals of misbehavior to assess presenting problems.
3. Explain one way that metacommunication is used to facilitate therapeutic insight in Adlerian Play Therapy.
4. Critique a video demonstration of Adlerian Play Therapy.
5. Apply Adlerian Play Therapy concepts to conceptualize clients.
6. Create a treatment plan consistent with an Adlerian Play Therapy approach.
