About this live event

This continuing education event teaches participants the theory, skills, and methods of Adlerian Play Therapy (AdPT). Participants will learn to conceptualize children from an Adlerian Play Therapy lens using the Crucial C’s, the Goals of Misbehavior, and additional assessment tools. Participants will learn and practice Adlerian specific Play Therapy skills such as metacommunication, therapeutic metaphor, questioning of the child's lifestyle, and the Adlerian Play Therapy approach to limit setting. Participants will learn through lecture, video demonstration, interactive practice, case review, and large group discussion. Completion of a Post-test and Evaluation is required for participants to receive CE credit.

Learning Objectives

1. Recite the theoretical tenets of Adlerian Play Therapy.

2. Discuss how Adlerian Play Therapy informs the assessment process when working with children and their families.

3. Demonstrate ability to practice key Adlerian Play Therapy skills and interventions such as limit setting, targeted intervention, and directive approaches.

4. Describe how Adlerian play therapists access the therapeutic powers of play.

5. Apply Adlerian theory to conceptualize Play Therapy cases.

6. Assess when Adlerian Play Therapy may be an effective intervention for treatment.
