6 Play Therapy Special Topics

About this live event

This continuing education event teaches participants a neurobiological framework for understanding Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Participants will learn skills to identify the functional impacts of the disorder and how to mitigate symptoms utilizing Play Therapy interventions. Participants will learn Play Therapy intervention skills through interactive practice and case discussion. Participants will learn through lecture, video demonstration, interactive practice, case review, and large group discussion. Completion of a Post-test and Evaluation is required for participants to receive CE credit.

Learning Objectives

1. Identify the historical and social context of the development of ADHD.

2. Describe a theoretical and neurobiological understanding of ADHD.

3. Identify Play Therapy skills to complete a functional assessment of ADHD.

4. Practice use of Play Therapy skills and interventions to target functional impairments associated with ADHD.

5. Identify supportive Play Therapy based interventions to promote healthy functioning in school, family, and social systems.

6. Assess when to refer for Play Therapy clients for additional treatment services.
